Biography

Dave Schelling has over 25 years of experience in commercial and residential construction/building. He started as a rough carpentry laborer. After working up to a construction superintendent, Mr. Schelling was progressively promoted to higher managerial positions, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of different roles in the industry. As a senior project manager, he managed numerous projects with a wide scope of work, including large hotel brand and high-end hotel conversions and complete renovations to lobby, ballroom, restaurants, back-of-house, public areas, ADA upgrades, and guest rooms. Before joining the YOUNG & Associates West Coast team, Mr. Schelling was the Senior Estimator/Purchasing Agent for a large, high-end custom home developer and builder in Southern California. He was responsible for estimating, purchasing, coordinating, and constructing several highly specialized custom homes with budgets from $2 million to $25 million. He coordinated all subcontractors to ensure high-quality work was completed per code. He utilized project management skills to ensure the project remained on schedule and within budget constraints. For the last five-plus years, Mr. Schelling has been involved in inspecting, assessing, estimating, project management, on-site project monitoring, and auditing collapse, fire, water, flood, wind, hail, and renewable energy damage claims of various sizes throughout the United States and has consulted on large complex insurance losses.
