Biography
Roy Scheunemann is a seasoned professional with over a decade of experience in the construction and insurance industries. He has overseen projects ranging from residential property losses to complex commercial, industrial, healthcare, historic, municipal, and high-net-worth private property claims across the U.S.
Roy specializes in damage assessments, estimating, and clerking functions, with notable expertise in catastrophic events, including Western freeze-ups and Hurricanes Ian, Helene, and Milton. Before joining Y.A. Group, he was a Director at J.S. Held LLC, where he led estimating, forensic roof evaluations, project monitoring, and appraisal services. He was also recognized as New England’s leading drone pilot, enhancing assessments with advanced aerial technology.
Earlier in his career, Roy served as Vice President of Operations and Lead Estimator for a nationally ranked contracting firm and as a Senior Property Claims Adjuster, where he handled diverse losses involving fire, wind, water, flood, vandalism, theft, and hail.

- Corvias Military Living, Various Locations | Fort Polk /Sill /Riley /McConnell/ Rucker/Bragg, Louisiana/Oklahoma/Kansas/Alabama/North Carolina | Consulted on hurricane, winter freeze, tornado, and hail damage across multiple storm events. Led a team to scope and document hundreds of housing units and building exteriors, provided emergency service invoice analysis, and developed detailed replacement cost estimates.
- Mauser Packaging Solutions | Homerville, Georgia | Assessed damage to 19 facilities totaling 675,000 square feet after Hurricane Helene. Scope of services consisted of piloting sUAS (drone) for damage documentation, collaborating with Halliwell Engineers with scope of work for structural and roofing damage, and develop a rough order of magnitude.
- Sunseeker Resort | Florida | Conducted damage assessment and documentation following Hurricane Helene. Developed a rough order of magnitude for repairs to address extensive facility damage.
- Givaudan Sense Colour | Louisville, Kentucky | Evaluated explosion damage at a caramel food coloring manufacturing facility. Scope of services consisted of documentation, detailed take-off, and piloting sUAS (drone) to create a 3D model of the facility and documentation of structurally compromised areas.
- Ocean State Controlled Botanicals LLC | Warwick, Rhode Island | Consulted on structural damage to a medical marijuana cultivation facility caused by theft and vandalism. Scope of services consisted of documentation, damage assessment, detailed take-off, developed cost-effective repair solutions, and negotiated a settlement with the hired contractor.
